Major renovations of the Nairobi Central Station began on July 27, 2020. This will see the station get a new face as it’s the central point in the city that connects the commuter rail network.

The rehabilitation of the station will see that it fits with the guided measures of embarking and disembarking from the Diesel Multiple Units (DMUs) that are set to arrive in the country.

As the rehabilitation works continue, stringent measures have been put in place to safeguard daily commuters as they access the station. Designated boarding points have been set for various trains to facilitate safe movement of passengers within the Nairobi Central Station. For Instance, Kikuyu and Ruiru trains, the boarding point has been designated on the Western end of the Nairobi Central Station and it is to be accessed from Railways Police station. While passengers boarding Syokimau & SGR Link trains will board the trains from the Eastern end of the station with access point being adjacent to Guava restaurant.

This will see uninterrupted renovation take place within the station. The rehabilitation of Nairobi Central Station will not only give it a new face but also show KR is dedicated in making transportation better.
