The Railway training Institute (RTI) held its 60th Graduation ceremony on Thursday December 8, 2022 at the Institute’s Main Campus in South B, Nairobi.

Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen said the ongoing training is part of the Government’s efforts to ensure there is enough capacity to oversee the operations and management of the railway infrastructure. Kenyans get the requisite skills and training for in the rail sector.

“I am delighted to officiate at today’s ceremony. Our aim as a Government is to build local capacity for operation and maintenance of the railway infrastructure in the country. The training programmes that are ongoing will ensure that Kenyans acquire the requisite skills with a particular focus on design, construction, management and operations for the railway transport sector,” he said.

The CS also officially opened the Dr. Rahab Nyaga Memorial Library which was constructed recently. The Library was named after Dr. Rahab Nyaga for her immense support and contribution to the Railway sector. She is a former member of the Board of Kenya Railways.

The ceremony also witnessed the launch of the 2022 – 2027 Strategic Plan. The Plan outlines the Institute’s agenda for the next five year which will it upscale its contribution to the railway sector and East African region.
