In line with its drive to enhance service delivery to it’s public’s, Kenya Railways recently announced the imminent construction of new railway stations in the satellite towns of Mlolongo and Kitengela.
Once complete, residents of the two towns will enjoy improved travel experience with check-in and boarding processes being the highlights of the journey.
This development is in line with the Corporation’s drive to upgrade rail infrastructure around the country, a move which is expected to see more travelers shift to rail from other modes of travel.
Currently, the two towns have halts where passengers board and alight from the trains.
The stations come hot on the heels of ongoing construction of new stations in Mukuru Kwa Njenga, Kenyatta University, Kibera, Satellite and Mutindwa areas.
Among the projected benefits of this initiative is the reduction of carbon emissions, de-congested roads and reduction of transit times between destinations.
More developments of a similar nature are planned for next year as the Corporation looks to take its services closer to the people.
