Residents of Mlolongo, Athi River, Kitengela and other areas along Mombasa Road can now evade the traffic jams currently being experienced on Mombasa Road due to the ongoing construction of the Express Way.
this comes with the additional trip on the Nairobi Central station to Kitengela route that also serves Mlolongo and Athi River towns. This train commences its journey at Lukenya station in Kitengela and terminates its journey at the same point in the evenings. Other stations served by the train include Makadara station and Imara Daima station.
The first train leaves Lukenya station at 5:45 am in the morning and the second leaves at 07:00 am and arriving the Nairobi Central station at 7:40 am and 8:55 am respectively. In the evening, the first train leaves Nairobi Central station at 5:50 pm to be followed by the second train at 6:40 pm. The two trains arrive in Kitengela at 7:45 pm and 8:35 pm respectively.
The train provides an affordable and convenient mode of transport between the two points by enabling commuters to avoid the traffic jam which often lasts for many hours resulting in ahuge loss of man hours.
A trip to and from Lukenya costs Ksh. 100, to and from Athi River is Ksh. 80, to Mlolongo is Ksh. 60 and Ksh. 40 to Makadara and Imara Daima stations.
