Kenya Railways Managing Director Mr. Philip Mainga, EBS welcomed Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Chairman Hon. Ndiritu Muriithi at the Transit Shed on February 14, 2025. The visit highlighted the importance of the facility in enhancing cargo deconsolidation and streamlining customs clearance processes.
The Transit Shed serves as a National Cargo Deconsolidation Centre, playing a crucial role in bringing cargo closer to business owners while easing congestion at the Port of Mombasa. With a capacity to handle up to 30 Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) per day, the facility continues to support efficient logistics operations.
During the visit, discussions focused on enhancing operational efficiency and strengthening collaboration between Kenya Railways, KRA, and other regulatory agencies. The facility hosts consolidators’ representatives, storage warehouses, KRA officers for customs services, and Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) officers for quality assurance, ensuring seamless cargo handling and compliance.
