As the year 2025 draws to a close, many are looking forward to travel home and to various destinations to share the Christmas cheer with family, friends, and even strangers. However, just before the majority proceed for the holiday season, the Corporate Services department started off the festive mood with a delicious slice of cake for staff.

On Monday, December 22, 2025, staff members at the Headquarters and the regions gathered to share a slice of cake. Branded with a cheerful message and bright colours, the cakes were appealing and mouthwatering. Votes of thanks for the year 2025 in the form of prayers were offered in earnest as grateful hearts and hands were lifted to God Almighty.

At the Headquarters, the Managing Director addressed the staff present, reflecting on the journey many present had witnessed. During his address, Mr. Mainga recounted the various achievements, key among them being the commissioning of the Mombasa Commuter Rail Service. He termed the project a vital component of the Corporation’s operations as it strengthens Kenya Railways’’ position in the transport and logistics scene locally.

Mr. Mainga also applauded the entire staff for the contributions throughout 2025; a year which saw the freight arm of the Corporation’s operations set a record and break it only a month later to set another higher record of 695,000 tonnes of cargo transported in 30 days.

The Managing Director also thanked members of staff involved in coordinating the train journeys during this festive season. With the Corporation transporting approximately 16,000 passengers a day, he called on the various teams to remain vigilant in order to ensure safe travels for our passengers.

Mr. Mainga also congratulated staff members who were successful in the recently concluded interviews as he officially welcomed the new members of staff who joined the Corporation in 2025.
