THE NAIVASHA INLAND CONTAINER DEPOT: Enhancing Transport and Logistics along the Northern Corridor

Kenya Railways is happy to introduce the Naivasha Inland Container Depot into the Transport and Logistics fold.

All Transit cargo can now be delivered to the facility straight from the Port of Mombasa as either Through Bill of Lading (TBL) or merchant haulage, while exports and empty containers can also be consolidated at the Naivasha ICD and railed to the Port of Mombasa for onward shipping.

From the Naivsha ICD our neighbors in Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Burundi, DR Congo and beyond can pick the cargo and transport to the end destinations by road.

The depot is linked to the Mombasa Port container terminal by a rail-tainer service on the Mombasa to Suswa Standard Gauge Railway line. The ICD has cut the distance from the Port of Mombasa by almost 572 kilometres.

Naivasha Inland Container Depot will serve to bring port services closer to customers and reduce congestion at the Port of Mombasa, Nairobi Inland Container Depot and on the roads.
