Kenya Railways Managing Director Philip J. Mainga, EBS hosted Taita Taveta County Governor H.E. Andrew Mwadime at the Kenya Railways Headquarters on February 26, 2025 for a discussion on the revitalization of the Voi-Taveta railway line. This strategic engagement underscored the Corporation’s commitment to improving railway connectivity and supporting economic growth in the county.

The discussions covered the construction of Transit-Oriented Developments (TODs) in Taita Taveta County, aligning with Kenya Railways’ vision of integrating transport infrastructure with sustainable urban development. The meeting also focused on unlocking the potential of railway land for commercial and residential projects, ensuring maximum utility and economic benefits. The discussions also centred on leveraging the Voi-Taveta railway line to support tourism growth in the county.

Taita Taveta County is home to rich wildlife reserves and historical sites, making it a prime location for railway tourism. The revitalization of the Voi-Taveta railway line is expected to facilitate easier access for both local and international tourists visiting Tsavo National Park and other attractions.
