Kenya Railways Train Operations Manager Eric Njoroge, Head of Commuter Engineer Leonard Tonui and Senior Engineer Shimrone Munga met with two Japanese officials Yasunari Nakajima General Manager Japan International Consultants for Transportation Company Limited (JIC) and Kee Chong Yan Assistant Manager on March 26, 2024 to discuss on matters pertaining the Nairobi Commuter Rail Services and its operations.

Among the areas of concerns and discussion was availability of Rolling Stock, Signaling system and its safety operations, modern passenger station facilities and a Mobile ticketing system with payment through M-Pesa.

The team also discussed about the request for funding and upgrading of the Nairobi to Limuru commuter line through Riruta.
