Madaraka Express Passenger Service Resumes Full Service

A day after the  announcement  of  an additional train to serve Nairobi and Mombasa County, Kenya Railways wishes to confirm that it will resume the Inter-county and Suswa service effective 2’ d October 2020. This follows several stakeholder engagements in response to customer requests and operational obligations.

Subsequent this latest service update, the Inter-county train will depart Mombasa Terminus every morning at 8:00 am to arrive at Nairobi Terminus at 01:42 pm whereas the Inter-county train from Nairobi Terminus will depart at 8:15 am to arrive at Mombasa Terminus at 02:18 pm. Both trains will make stopovers at Athi River, Emali, Kibwezi, Mtito Andei, Voi, Miasenyi and Mariakani stations. The Express train will leave Mombasa Terminus at 3:15 pm to arrive at Nairobi Terminus at 8:14 pm and the Express train from Nairobi will leave at 2:35 pm and arrive at Mombasa Terminus at 8:14pm.

The Corporation also wishes to announce that the Madaraka Express Commuter Service that shuttles between Nairobi Terminus and Suswa station with stoppages at Ongata Rongai, Ngong and Maai Mahiu stations will also resume operations. The Madaraka Express Commuter Service which combines the commuter and long distance service shall operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays between Nairobi Terminus and Ngong station. Customers to Suswa station will access the Madaraka Express Commuter Service every Friday and Sunday.
